Dr. Fritz Hippler, the executive directly beneath Goebbels in the Ministry's film department, extensively testifies about his experiences in the ministry and with Goebbels, as does a number of photographers and newsreel cameraman about their work and experiences. The hows and whys of film propaganda are exposed, the tricks involved in making and employing them, the difficult conditions under which they were filmed and the gradual devolution of the propaganda film apparatus. A film filled with revelations, such as that provided by the cameraman who filmed the execution of the Hitler assassination plotters, who testifies in the very room in which they were hung that they were not in fact hung with piano wire as has been apocryphally repeated for decades but rather with rope; the cameraman who rigged two cameras together to create false duplicates of images so that one shot down plane appeared to be two; how a much lionized artillery battery on the Russian front was massacred immediately after the barrage that was filmed and used in the German newsreels was retaliated against; and more besides.
