The Beatles 1964 World Tour: The Beatles' first world tour is launched after their 1964 UK tour. The reception was enthusiastic, with The Spectator describing it as "hysterical". It was followed by their subsequent North American tour in August that year. The Beatles played at the Festival Hall of Melbourne on June 15, 16 and 17th, 1964, in time for Ringo Starr to rejoin the group after being hospitalized with tonsillitis and temporarily replaced by Jimmie Nicol. Festival Hall is a heritage listed entertainment venue located at 300 Dudley Street, West Melbourne, Victoria. It is one of Melbourne's larger concert venues and has hosted a variety of local and international acts over many years. In October 2020, Hillsong purchased the Festival Hall venue. It will continue to host entertainment events, in addition to hosting Hillsong Church Melbourne City's weekly church services. The building is set to undergo renovation to better suit the new uses.
