America's space shuttle fleet has long been reputed to have had numerous contacts with unidentified flying objects in outer space; this fictional film, very loosely based on particular aspects of UFO "crashed saucer" lore, imagines the shuttle as having exactly such an experience a full year before any manned shuttle flew in space. As this story goes, a satellite launched from the shuttle crashes with a UFO in space, bringing the unknown craft hurtling down to the ground and causing the drama that unfolds.
