What makes up a person who is able to risk their own life in protecting the lives of others? Elie Wiesel takes us on a journey through exactly this in this insightful film which interviews Jewish survivors of the Holocaust who were saved by the kindness of others, sometimes total strangers, as well as those who saved Jews during the 1930s and 1940s in areas dominated by The Third Reich. If you've got tears to shed in admiration of all that's good in the human spirit, they will be honorably spent in watching and learning from this moving film.

Resistance During The Holocaust: In a number of countries, notable individuals or communities created resistance during the Holocaust which helped the Jews escape some concentration camps. To a certain extent, a number of nations exercised a covert resistance against the deportation of their Jewish population during the Holocaust, such as Italy. Since 1963, a commission organized by Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembrance Authority in Israel, and headed by an Israeli Supreme Court justice, has been charged with the duty of awarding people who rescued Jews from the Holocaust the honorary title Righteous Among the Nations. As of January 2007, 21,758 people have received the honor.
